Joan Skaar

Joan Skaar age 78 of Delafield, passed away on March 12, 2013. Joan is survived by her loving sister Darlene 'Smick' Thomson of Neenah, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, their spouses and their 11 children along with many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mildred, and her husband Phillip. Joan worked as a nurse for many years and also as a relator. She was an avid golfer and she was the second longest consecutive member at Oconomowoc Golf Club dating back almost 50 years. Last year she had one of her best years as she was hitting longer and better than she had been in a long time. She was also a longtime member of the Lake Country Racquet and Athletic Club. She loved swimming, the water, the sun, and all types of animals including birds, raccoons and her cat Sassy. She was a devoted volunteer at the Wildlife in Need Center and the Oconomowoc food pantry. Joan will be deeply missed by all of her very close and dear friends that she has made along the way. A funeral Mass will be held for Joan on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 A.M.. Services will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church (120 Nashotah Road, Nashotah). A luncheon and a time of reflection will be held at the Oconomowoc Golf Course following the Mass.
