Judith "Judy" Joy Sepsey

Judith “Judy” Joy Sepsey (nee Blumer) of Oconomowoc passed away on July 27, 2021 at the age of 81. Family was at the core of Judy’s life. She was raised in Albany, Wisconsin by her parents, Fred and Virginia Blumer. She met Linus Sepsey, the love of her life, at Kendall College. They were married in 1960 and had almost 55 years together before his death in 2015. Judy was a devoted and caring mother to their two children, Michael and Susan. She delighted in being Grandma to Susan’s daughters, Rebecca and Jessica. Judy was always planning for the next family visit or event, thinking of ways to make it special. Over their 55-year marriage, Judy and Linus lived in Evanston, IL, Schaumburg, IL, and New Berlin, WI, remembering all of their homes fondly. Albany, WI was always special to Judy and she visited regularly for family gatherings, class reunions, and the annual Memorial Day remembrance. For Judy, Albany was an extension of family, as it was and still is home to many beloved family members and friends. Judy was a leader and active member at Our Lord’s United Methodist Church in New Berlin. Over the decades she served on numerous church committees and found joy in being a long-time member of the choir. She wished to be remembered as a “good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23).” Judy held several jobs over her life, but she found her true vocation in retirement. She took writing classes and became a prolific and wide-ranging author of poems and short stories. Her imagination knew no bounds. Her work was published in numerous editions of Verse Wisconsin and Wisconsin Poets’ Calendar. In 2016, she published a delightful children’s book, Auntie Jane. Judy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael Sepsey and Anna Lyle; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mark Yokosh; granddaughters Rebecca and Jessica Yokosh; and siblings Becky Dick, Renee Porterfield, Karl Blumer, RoEllen Rothenbach, and Kim Blumer. Judy is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Virginia Blumer; husband Linus Sepsey; and brother Kris Blumer. A celebration of life will be held at Albany United Methodist Church (500 Park Street, Albany, WI 53502) on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pastor Tom Moe will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to a memorial luncheon at noon at the Lion’s Club (402 North Cincinnati Street, Albany). Special thanks to the caring staff at Azura Memory Care of Oconomowoc and Brighton Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Cares Food Pantry (Monticello, WI) or Our Lord’s United Methodist Church (New Berlin, WI).
