Kathleen "Kathy" Evelyn Hanson

Hanson, Kathleen "Kathy" Evelyn of Oconomowoc, born to eternal life on October 12, 2024, at the age of 84.

Dearest mother of Suzanne (Mark) Zwaska, proud grandmother of Christian Dennik and great-grandmother of Theodore Dennik. She is further survived by her sisters, Susan Rajchel and Vicky Finup, stepchildren, Jody (Bob) Ihler and John (Tracey) Hanson and extended family and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Frank D. Hanson.

Kathy grew up in northern Wisconsin and moved to Milwaukee after high school graduation. It was here she met and married Stephen Lakich in 1960 and had their daughter. Kathy endeavored to take numerous banking courses, working her way to many promotions within her lifelong career in banking (First Wisconsin National Bank and First National Bank, Escanaba, Michigan). In 1981 she met and married Frank Hanson. They spent many years of their marriage traveling throughout the U.S. and living in homes lovingly and beautifully decorated by Kathy.

She was incredibly talented and spent hours playing her beloved piano, crocheting multiple afghans, needlepointing, sewing, singing in the church choir, cooking and crafting handmade baskets. She was a beautiful dancer.

Kathy embodied both style and elegance. She spent her last several years at Shorehaven lovingly cared for by so many kind and compassionate staff. She made wonderful friends. Kathy was known for her fashion forward outfits, leopard prints and movie star worthy sunglasses!

Mom, you are a part of me and me a part of you, together always.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Delafield Presbyterian Church in c/o music ministry in Kathy’s name are welcome.

A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will take place on Wednesday, October 23 at 2:00pm at the Shorehaven Chapel (1305 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Oconomowoc, WI 53066- 2nd Floor). Though there will be no visitation, all are invited to join together in remembrance and honor of Kathy's joyful spirit and compassionate heart.
