Kathryn Sims Martin

Kathryn (Katie) Sims Martin, born on March 26, 1939 in Watertown, Wisconsin to Kathryn Fayne Bell and Emil Everett Sims, passed away on Thursday June 2nd. She was a resident at Marquardt Manor in Watertown for the last year of her life. She married John Martin in November of 1959. She is survived by her son Peter (Karen) Martin and her daughter Anne Wehner, both of Oconomowoc. Kathryn is also survived by her sister Caroline (Max) Coon of Arcola, Illinois and many relatives in the Oakland, Illinois area. She is further survived by grandchildren Emily (Jake) Gajewski of Sussex, Elizabeth Wehner of Seattle, Washington, Alexander Martin of Platteville and Christopher Martin of Whitewater. She was recently introduced to her first great-grandchild, Nora Gajewski. Kathryn had a long career in Oconomowoc as a dental hygienist. Later, she went back to school at WCTC to earn her degree in financial planning and started her own business. Kathryn was dedicated to tracing her family’s genealogy. She traveled throughout the US and England and had bookcases filled with details of her ancestors’ lives. She loved music, especially playing the recorder with her friend. She was an avid reader and writer. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Marquardt Manor, especially the CNAs and RNs that watched over her like family. There will be a gathering for family and friends to remember Kathryn at a date to be determined. Her remains will be placed next to her parents in Oakland, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials are recommended for Marquardt Manor or the Alzheimer’s Association. Pagenkopf Funeral Home is serving the family.
