Kathy L. Gnat

February 25, 1953 - August 16, 2018 Kathy L. Gnat, age 65, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, August 16. Kathy was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Edward and Ruth Gnat. After graduating from Hamilton High School, Kathy attended Bryant and Stratton College for Fashion Merchandising. After holding various positions in the Milwaukee area, she felt called to care for her aging father, which she did with great patience and love. Kathy is survived by her children, Heather (Scott) Shanks and Lee Schmoldt as well as her grandchildren, Cole and Jake Shanks, father, Edward Gnat, and brothers, Edward and David (Monica). Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Gnat. A Memorial Service for Kathy will be held on Monday, August 27, at Good Hope Cemetery (4141 S. 43rd St., Greenfield, WI) with a visitation for family and friends starting at 3:30 pm and the service beginning at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. John’s Lutheran Church (6700 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek, WI 53154) or the National MS Society (P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163). The family would like to say a special thank you to the team of the Neuro ICU at St. Luke’s Hospital and Seasons Hospice for the special care they gave Kathy. Beloved mother, dedicated daughter, caring sister and loyal friend, Kathy will be truly missed and never forgotten.
