Kenneth Oscar Johnson (1932-2014) Johnson, Kenneth Oscar “Ken” passed away on October 25, 2014 surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years and best friend, Beth (nee Arens) and his five daughters: Susan (Jon) Nolan, Virginia (Tom) Traub, Martha (Lex) Huberts, Heidi (Casey) Brunner, Kristen (Blake) Rowley. Cherished grandfather/Boppa of thirteen grandchildren: Kenneth 'Casey', Patrick and Katie Nolan; Carina and Madeline Traub; Alyssa and Mette Huberts; Sofia, Will and Teddy Brunner; Connor, Duncan and Haley Rowley. Further survived by his brother Charles Johnson, cousins, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Elaine (Louis) Ksander Ken was born on October 7, 1932 to Oscar Wilhelm and Mildred (nee Benson) Johnson in Newark, OH. He went on to live a remarkable life on earth, attending DePauw University, Northwestern University Medical School, Dartmouth College for his internship and pediatric residency in Boston City Hospital and Chicago Children's Hospital. He practiced as a pediatrician in Milwaukee for 35 years, and was the co-founder of the Milwaukee Medical Clinic on Good Hope Road. In addition to a bedside manner like no other, he contributed immensely to his profession and the children they served by holding many leadership positions within the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Ken served as President of the Wisconsin Chapter for six years and six years on the National Board of Directors. After his retirement, he continued his commitment to the care of others by co-founding the Lake Area Free Clinic, a resource for the uninsured in the Greater Oconomowoc area. He was also an active Rotarian, serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Oconomowoc. Ken was many great things to many people. He was the life of the party, an agile dancer, a great athlete, a loyal fraternity brother (Beta Theta Pi), an enthusiastic Swede and an able boat captain. He taught countless children to water ski, hunt for “snipe”, sing silly songs and eat cake for breakfast. Visitation Thursday, October 30 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Service Friday, October 31st at 10:00 AM at Zion Episcopal Church (135 Rockwell Street Oconomowoc) with Interment following at La Belle Cemetery (700 E. Grove Street Oconomowoc). In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Academy of Pediatrics (www.aap.org) or the Lake Area Free Clinic (www.lakeareafreeclinic.org) appreciated.
