Kenneth Warren Schaefer passed away peacefully on his 85th birthday, March 14, 2025, in Oconomowoc, WI. He was born on March 14, 1940, in Waukesha, WI, and was the loving son of Russell and Alice Schaefer.
Ken found joy in restoring old tractors and spent countless hours indulging in his passion and sharing his hobby with family and friends.
He was a man known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to others. He embraced life with warmth and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, including through his years of service with the Dousman-Ottawa Lions Club. His generosity and compassion were evident in all of his interactions, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Janet Schaefer and Jane (Brian Cain) Schaefer; grandchildren, Dan (Becky) Mengel, Alex (Dani) Mengel, Sarah Cain, Stephen Cain, and Megan (Lenny) Bollinger; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally (David) Blaedow; brother, Dean Schaefer; very special friends, Rita, Linda and Doug Wonoski; along with many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years Gail Schaefer, parents and sister-in-law, Sharon Schaefer.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at ProHealth Home Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Ken's final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his honor.
A visitation will be held on April 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066), followed by a service celebrating Ken’s life. His family hopes you will join them for fellowship and refreshments afterwards.
