Leland “Skip” Ruppenthal, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 28th at Shorehaven. He was born on April 8, 1934 to Eugene and Mabel (Kunz) Ruppenthal in Milwaukee. Skip was the former owner and president of Midwest Grinding Co. In 1955, he was the Wisconsin State Champion in Cross Country Motorcycle Racing. Skip hosted the first ultralight aircraft fly-in on Lac La Belle. He is a longtime resident of Beggs Isle. Skip loved motorcycling, boating, sailing, waterskiing, ATVing and snowmobiling. Skip is survived by his life partner, Pamela Meyer; children, James (Nancy) and Heidi (Ray) Ryan; grandchildren, Ryan, Jameson, Daniel, Joseph, Lauren and Forrest; and his great-grandson, Evan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Carol Rogers; and two sisters, Jeanne and Eunice. A private entombment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Skip’s name to Shorehaven.
