Lon Glaznap

Our beloved Lon Harvey Glaznap of Oconomowoc and Milwaukee, dearest and devoted son of Lola Ann Petersen- Glaznap and Milton Eric Glaznap, caring first cousin of five, and cherished friend of many, traveled home to his heavenly Father, Saturday, September 4th, 2010, at 60 years of life. He will be remembered by his students and colleagues, as a master English and Spanish teacher at Hartford Union High School in Hartford, WI where he began his career, and Nicolet High School in Glendale, WI where over the last 25 years he was instrumental in creating a highly successful American Studies Program which integrated history, literature, and art and where he taught his students to be culturally literate and to “fear no art!” His tenor voice still echoes with the members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Florentine Opera Chorus, Bel Canto Chorus, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Choir, Skylight Theatre, Melody Top Theatre, and Music Under the Stars. Lon loved the Arts, literature, the Olympics, traveling, cooking, gardening, his Norwegian heritage, and Door County. His intellect, creative mind, wisdom, titillating conversation, zest for life, quick wit, penchant for breaking into song, style, grace, generosity, joyful spirit, friendship, genuine warmth, kindness, and love will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola, and his father, Milton. A Celebration of Lon’s Life will be held Saturday, October 16th, at 1:00p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3022 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53208. The parking lot is located behind the church on Wells Street. Memorials may be sent to Nicolet High School Foundation, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Rd., Glendale, WI 53217, earmarked for the Lon Glaznap Memorial Fund. God be with you until we meet again.
