OCONOMOWOC – Louis James Novak, age 84, of Oconomowoc, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 22, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Angeline Novak. Louis served honorably in the Korean War as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He played the saxophone in a band that travelled with the USO. Later, he worked as a route salesman for many popular baking companies, including Hostess Cakes, Archway Cookies, Brownberry Bread, and Pepperidge Farm. On February 11, 1956 Louis married the love of his life, May Amanda Custeau. They were married for 62 years before her death in 2014. Survivors include his sons, Steven J. (Mary) Novak of Kansas City, MO, and Todd J. (Jennifer) Novak of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Michelle L. (Todd) Lider of Oconomowoc, WI; five grandchildren, Tripp, Abby, Ariel, Jett and Maddy; as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Connor, Braelyn, and Lacelie; and one brother, Jack (Sharon) Novak of Lombard, IL. A Celebration of Louis’ Life will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, November 22, 2019 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave., Oconomowoc, WI 53066. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until time of service. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1 pm at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL, with Military Rites Accorded.
