Mabel Alvina Ida Zastrow (nee Natzke) age 83 of Oconomowoc, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Shorehaven Lutheran Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Elmer and Erna Natzke. She was one of two children the other being her brother Francis 'Butch' Natzke. Mabel attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Oconomowoc High School. She was a bright student and loyal friend. Mabel married LeRoy 'Leafy' Zastrow on October 8, 1949. She was the mother of six children Jim (Kathy) Zastrow, Sharon (Charles) Christoph, Nadine Zastrow, Kathy (Tom) Ginn, Ken 'Fred' Zastrow and Donald (Jodi) Zastrow. Mabel was the grandmother of eight and great grandmother of one. She was a dedicated employee of Anise Linen Shop and Tobin Drug Store. She was a buyer for the baby department with frequent trips to Chicago for trade shows, and also worked in the fine gift department at Tobin's. Mabel and Leafy traveled extensively throughout the country and Europe, visiting family in California, New Mexico, Minnesota, the state of Washington, Hawaii and Germany. She LOVED to travel. She also enjoyed swimming, tennis and baking. Mabel and Leafy were extremely social, being involved in their church, card clubs, German festivals and Polka dancing. Mabel was a woman of gentle strength and deep love of family. Her qualities of patience, gentleness, loyalty and humor were greatly appreciated by her family and friends. She was a hard worker and her family always came first. WE LOVE YOU MOM AND YOU WILL BE MISSED! Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Leafy, daughter-in-law Jan, brother Francis 'Butch' and granddaughter Allison Zastrow. A Memorial service for Mabel will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where Mabel and Leafy and their six children attended. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Shorehaven Lutheran Homes and Vitas Hospice for the care and kindness they extended to her.
