Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Margaret E. Reehl (Margie) passed away Monday, August 21st, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Her husband, children, and close family members were at her side prior to her passing.
Margaret was the daughter of John Wesley Schneck and Della Mae Schneck of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She had two older brothers, John Wesley and George Robert Schneck who preceded her in death. Margaret met her future husband Stephen H. Reehl while attending Lawrence College in Appleton, WI. They were married in 1959 and had five children - John, Christopher, Elizabeth, Amy Marie, and Wendy. Amy Marie preceded her in death.
She lived in many places, including in Milwaukee, Detroit, and Indianapolis before moving to Delafield, WI in 1987 where she lived out the rest of her days. In addition to being a dedicated wife and loving mother, she was a teacher, and a passionately involved member of her community. She frequently volunteered, and loved to brighten the lives of those around her with her hard work and positive attitude.
Margaret loved the Lord, and truly exemplified Christian values throughout her life. She was an active member of the church choir in her earlier years, and remained active in the Episcopal church throughout the duration of her life. She showered everyone around her with the love of Jesus, and believed every person was worthy of her kindness and attention.
Margaret had a great passion for God’s creation. She rode and owned horses, and loved to garden. Her favorite place in the whole world was her cabin on Forest Lake in Land O’ Lakes, WI. The log cabin was constructed by her parents in the late 1930’s. She spent summers there every year for the rest of her life. It has become the annual summer vacation gathering spot for her entire family, and it holds cherished memories for us all.
Margaret is survived by Stephen, her loving husband of 63 years, her children John (Monica), Christopher (Janita), Elizabeth Meier (Dan), and Wendy McCormick (John). She leaves 11 grandchildren: Nicholas, Matthew, Michelle James and Meredith Hall; Madeline and Sean Reehl; Stephanie, Jacob, and Christopher Meier; Taylor and Lauren McCormick. She also leaves 5 great-grandchildren: Adeline and Valerie Reehl; Gracelynn Reque and Hadley Reehl; and Chesney Mae James.
She was truly loved by all and will be deeply missed. A private family ceremony will be held with the time to be determined at a later date. Donations can be made to: LifeStriders, S11 W29667 Summit Ave. (US HWY 18), Waukesha, WI 53188
