Margaret Marie Parker
May. 27, 1947 – Feb. 6, 2025
Margaret M. Parker (nee Doran) became an angel when was born to eternal life on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Azura Memory Care at the age of 77 surrounded by her family.She was the first of three daughters born to Harold and Evelyn Doran. She grew up with her two sisters while they were living on the family farm near Boone, Iowa. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Steve; her children, Joel Parker (Donna) and Carolyn Parker; her sisters Kathy Lansing (Lee) and Connie Bates (Doug); her beloved grandchildren Logan, Abigail, Porter, Casey, and Ryan. Further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in by her parents Harold and Evelyn Doran and nephews Matthew Lansing and Clifford Bates.
Margaret, who often went by her nickname, Marg, was an outgoing people person who never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She met Steve while the two were attending Iowa State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education. They were married on August 25, 1969, and spent their first year together during their final year at ISU before graduating in May 1969. After graduation, Margaret went on to teach home economics at Brown Deer and Wauwatosa schools until her children were born. After they had grown, she went on to work at Henri's Foods in its dressing development group and later in several women's retail clothing stores, including Petite Sophisticate and Casual Corner. Margaret and Steve lived in their home in Franklin for 30 years before moving to a new home in Oconomowoc in 2005. Margaret enjoyed gardening and home decorating. Above all, Margaret's greatest joy was her family and loved spending time with them. She will be so very deeply missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the kind people at Azura Memory Care in Oconomowoc and also the caring staff with St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they provided at Azura.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Memorial United Methodist Church, 3450 S. 52nd St., Greenfield, WI 53219. A small lunch will follow. Afterward, burial will be held in a private family ceremony at La Belle Cemetery in Oconomowoc.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Memorial United Methodist Church are appreciated.
