Marian Helena Vink

Marian Helena Vink, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023, in Oconomowoc, WI. Marian was born on December 31, 1942, in the Netherlands to her loving parents, Herman and Helena Smeenk (nee Kalthoff).

Marian's journey began in Voorburg, Netherlands, where she lived a fulfilling life before her marriage to her devoted husband, Hans Vink, on May 6, 1964, in Denhaag. In 1966, Marian and Hans embarked on a new chapter of their lives, moving to the vibrant community of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

As a dedicated housewife, Marian's love and commitment were unwavering. She lovingly cared for her husband and their two children, Raynold (Janet) Vink and Nicole (Gary Michael) Nelson. She was Oma to her grandchildren, Jake and Ryan Nelson, and Catherine Nicolaas Vink, who captured her heart and brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Marian's passion for creativity knew no bounds. She expressed her artistic flair through various mediums, including woodworking, jewelry making, painting, and dollhouse craftsmanship. Marian's hands were always busy, knitting beautiful sweaters and blankets, creating intricate costumes, and sewing with precision. With her green thumb, she lovingly tended to her plants and maintained a flourishing garden.

Marian's warm and compassionate nature touched the lives of many. She shared countless valuable experiences and created lifelong friendships with her siblings: Fer, Ton, Hella, Mary, Trudy, and step-siblings: Frans, Rosalie, Bernadette, and Winnifred. Marian was deeply grateful for the support and love she received from her extended family and friends throughout the years.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at ProHealth Home Hospice for their compassionate care during Marian's final days. Additionally, they express their appreciation to Maria and Beth, dear friends and neighbors, as well as Hanny, Rynie, and Vickie, for their unwavering support and friendship.

In honor of Marian's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. This tribute serves as a reminder of Marian's caring nature and her desire to provide comfort and healing to those in need.

A celebration of Marian's incredible life will be on October 8, 2023 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, 53066) with a visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm and the service to follow, where her loved ones will gather to reminisce, share stories, and honor the profound impact she had all their lives. The family invites you to join them after the service for appetizers and refreshments in the banquet hall. Marian will forever be remembered and dearly missed.

Rest in peace, dear Marian. Your vibrant spirit and enduring love will forever illuminate our hearts.
