Mark Gregory Phillips

Mark Gregory Phillips, age 72, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born on February 10, 1950 to Harris and Doris (Bezio) Phillips in Menominee, Michigan. Mark was clever and inquisitive, he delighted in goldfinches, spring wildflowers, the beauty of nature, and above all else, his family. He had an empathic nature, and his compassion was evident in his willingness to help others. He was kind, generous and never placed judgment on others. Continuing his family legacy was the force behind his years of hard work. Mark worked at Rockwell Automation for 32 years as an electrical engineer. During his career, Mark was highly regarded for his design ability and received numerous patents for the electrical components he developed. He was most proud of the work he did on developing the electrical motor for Oshkosh Trucking’s military vehicles. After retiring in 2017, he continued to share his expertise as a consultant. In his free time, Mark enjoyed spending time with family, hiking, camping, bird watching, identifying flowers, studying mathematics, helping family with home renovations, wood working, metal fabrication and riding his Harley or Van Van. His world revolved around spending time with family. He cherished the countless trips with his family to his cabin in the UP. You could find him riding the trails with his son-in-law and grandchildren or just relaxing by the lake in his hammock. He was beloved to all who knew him. Mark is survived by his daughters, Kim Phillips and Amber (Kevin) Murley; two grandchildren, Masin and Mckenna Murley; and sister, Maxine “Mickey” Hermann. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Loser; two brothers, Harris “Skip” Phillips and Gary Phillips; many other beloved family and friends.
