Marlene Gately, 66, of Dousman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21st, 2016 surrounded by family and holding the hand of the love of her life for 46 years. Marlene was born on December 3, 1949 in Matoon, WI. Marlene is survived by her husband, Tom, her children Brenda (Lehman) Jackson; Steve (Kathie) Gately; grandchildren Autumn, Rachel, Hunter, Elizabeth; her close cousin Gayla (Walter) Kiley and many other cousins and their families. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Georgia Priser; and her sister Raeburn. Marlene and Tom met when they were only eighteen years old, Tom a seaman in the Navy and Marlene a volunteer at the USO. It was love at first sight for Tom as he knew the moment they met he would spend the rest of his life with her. One year later they were married and began to welcome their children a year after that. They resided in Milwaukee and West Allis until moving to Dousman. They shared 46 years together providing their children and grandchildren with much love, laughs and joy. Marlene was extremely proud of her grandchildren who meant the world to her. Those who knew Marlene well also know of her grandchildren because she was always sharing their accomplishments and proud moments. She had great joy spending time with her grandchildren and her zest for life often had them keeping up with her. Marlene was an LPN by profession who dedicated her professional career to helping the patients she served. Marlene was also a Licensed Minister whose passion was praying for others. She loved the Lord with all her heart and delighted in visiting those in the hospital to share the hope found in Gospel of Jesus Christ and to pray with them. She was a self-less and generous person who would often provide for the needs of others anonymously. Her generosity of spirit and kindness of heart touched all those around her. She made others feel special by listening and truly caring about them, often praying for them long after they parted ways. Marlene did not want a funeral held for her. In lieu of a funeral a celebration of her life will be held with close family and friends. We love and miss you but are comforted by knowing you are at peace rejoicing in the arms of our Lord. You will forever be in our hearts and your words of wisdom will guide those you loved.
