Martin Robert Cates

Martin Robert Cates, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2021. Marty was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 13, 1951 to Robert and Eleanor (nee Ring) Cates. Marty is survived by his beautiful children, Angela (Brian) Machesky, Jasmine (Brian) Keller and Eric Cates; his grandchildren, Tyler (Jenna) Machesky, Brittany Machesky, Zachary Keller, Dylan Keller, Mackenzie Machesky, Aubrey Landis and Logan Keller; his great-grandchild, Paisley James Kolbow. Marty is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Sandy Novesky; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Linda Cates, who he remained good friends with; his siblings, Kathy (Keith) Karlson, Alan (Cory) Cates and Peggy (Jeff) Hudson; along with many more nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who all loved him greatly. Marty is preceded in death by his parents. Marty loved everything Harley Davidson. In his lifetime, he owned 56 Harley and Indian motorcycles. He was known to have several bikes at any given time and enjoyed buying, selling, and working on them almost as much as riding them. Marty was an avid supporter of the 2nd amendment and a gun enthusiast. He also loved hunting and fishing. He was very proud of his record-breaking bear which you can still find hanging on the wall of his house. In lieu of flowers, donations to any organizations that support military veterans or their families are appreciated. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at VFW Post 5716 (17980 W. Beloit Road, New Berlin, WI 53146) from 3:30pm - 7:30pm.
