WATERTOWN - Mary Ann Joesphine Powondra, age 89, of Watertown, passed away Saturday, June 20th at Marquardt Nursing Home in Watertown. She was born March 8, 1931, in Milwaukee to Florian and Mary Powondra. Mary Ann grew up in Milwaukee where her parents owned and operated a funeral home. She cared deeply for people, and animals. She was always smiling. Although she was not a rich person, she knew how to love and appreciate everything that she had. She enjoyed thrift shopping, and giving old items a new home. She graduated from Alverno College, where she earned her Bachelors of Science, on her way to becoming a Nurse. She worked for many different places, including Marquardt, and retired from Zinendorf (now Park Ridge). Survivors include her dear friends, Sara (Tony) Weber, Mike Kottwitz, Kimberly Kottwitz. and many dear friends from Johnson Arms in Watertown. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her good friend Judy Kottwitz A private burial service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 25th at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to her estate or charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated. Mary Ann’s friends would like to express a special “thank you” to the entire staff at Marquardt and Marquardt Hospice for the loving care they extended to her.
