Mary Chapman

Mary K. Chapman (formerly Cottrill; nee Hauge), age 69, of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24th, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 2 year battle with ovarian cancer, at AngelsGrace Hospice Care Center. Mary was born on Oct. 27, 1942, in Madison, the youngest of seven children. She attended Baraboo High School, graduating in 1960. She was married to the late Donald Cottrill in Baraboo on Oct. 17, 1962. Until her recent retirement, Mary spent most of her adult life employed as an administrative secretary for various companies. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Mary was an avid golfer, a sport which she took up enthusiastically after meeting, and later marrying her current husband, Donald Chapman, on April 21, 2007 in Oconomowoc. The couple purchased a second home in McAllen, TX and enjoyed spending winters in the warm South-Texas climate, golfing and socializing with their many 'winter friends'. She is survived by her husband, Donald Chapman of Oconomowoc; her two sons, Todd (Darcy) Cottrill of Fitchburg and Jim (Marybeth) Cottrill of Pewaukee; grandchildren Trenton, Leah, Anna and Joshua; great-grandchildren Kaley and Cash; sisters Betty Raabe, Sharron Rheaume, Jeanne Friberg, Patricia Dunse; brothers Lloyd 'Andy' Hauge and Jim Hauge; many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Cottrill; her father, Lloyd Hauge, and mother, Louise Hauge. A memorial service will be held at ST. OLAF LUTHERAN CHURCH, W653 Roosevelt Road, Rubicon, WI, at 11:30 on Friday, June 29, 2012, with the Rev. Matt Lee presiding. Private family burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to the American Cancer Society, St. Olaf's Lutheran Church or AnglesGrace Hospice center in Oconomowoc. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Waukesha and Oconomowoc Memorial Hospitals, and also, a special thank you to the staff at AngelsGrace Hospice Care Center in Oconomowoc. Mary will be dearly missed, and will be remembered for her contagious smile and positive attitude as she dealt with her multiple surgeries and chemotherapy sessions. She was a true Christian and an inspiration to all that had the privilege of knowing her.
