Mary Jo Meyer (nee Norem), passed away peacefully on September 17, 2015 at age 87. She was the wife of 64 years to William John Meyer, loving mother of Eric (Cheryl), Linda (Mike), Ted (Cindy) and Kitty (Tim). Proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lucille Norem (nee Torsen) and her only sister Katherine (Erickson) who died in the 50's. Mary Jo was born in Wausau, WI on September 7, 1928. With her parents she moved to Amasa, MI and attended Amasa schools and graduated in 1945. While living in Amasa, her father was the Manager of the Patton Logging Company, the last Rail Road Logging operation in the UP of Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan from 1946 - 1950 and graduated with a BS in Spanish and English. She taught for 2 years. While at Michigan she met her husband Bill who graduated in 1950 with BS in Civil Engineering and Masters in Civil-Structural Engineering in 1952. They became engaged and were married August 18, 1951 and moved to the Milwaukee area. A Memorial Service honoring Mary Jo’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 11:00 AM in the third floor chapel at Shorehaven Lutheran Home, 1305 W Wisconsin Ave in Oconomowoc. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
