Mary Lou Punzel (Sipos) passed away in her home unexpectedly on March 14, 2025. She was 72 years old. Affectionately known as Lou to all her friends and family, she lived most of her life in and around the Oconomowoc area. Growing up on Golden Lake, Lou enjoyed an idyllic childhood with her Mom, Dad, and 4 siblings. She graduated from Oconomowoc HS in 1970, received her associates degree from Cardinal Strich in Early Elementary Education. She later switched occupations to Purchasing working for manufacturing companies.

Lou dearly loved to laugh, spend time with friends and family, and collect antiques with her husband Steve. Lou was a voracious reader and read any mystery novel she could get her hands on. Lou also loved to cook and collect cookbooks. Lou loved to travel, her favorite place to go was Sanibel Island, FL. Lou and her husband Steve drove there many times over the years, stopping along the way to take in all the sights between Oconomowoc and Sanibel Island.

Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband Steve just this last December of 2024. Also, preceding her were her parents, Albert and Betty Sipos (Clauder), uncle, Phillip Clauder, sister, Carol Sipos, nephew, Bill Hayes, and brother-in-law Bob Szemborski.

Lou is survived by her sister, Betty Jo Szemborski (Sipos), and brothers John (Grace) Sipos, and Bob Sipos. Also, her 2 nieces Wendy (Jon) Rupprecht, and Sydney Sipos and her 4 nephews Rob Szemborski, PJ (Heather) Sipos, Andrew (Alison) Sipos, Mike (Steph) Sipos, numerous great-nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Please join Lou’s family at Pagenkopf Funeral Home on Friday April 11, with visitation from 1pm to 3pm, with a service at 3pm.
