Mary Lynn Svitak

Mary Lynn Svitak, 58, of Ashippun, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in her home, on January 11, 2023.

Mary was born on March 20, 1964 in West Allis, Wisconsin, to Shirley and Donald Schneck. She was the youngest of three children.

Mary graduated from Pius XI high school in 1982. After graduation, she worked various jobs, including a jewelry store, and eventually landed in accounts payable at Milwaukee Envelope. Later, Mary would work for Messer systems before taking a break to try her hand as a business owner. Mary was passionate about dogs. Her passion helped her grow K-9 Klippette, a successful dog grooming business in Milwaukee. Years later, Mary would make her way back to Messer, where she continued to work until this year.

While working at Milwaukee Envelope, Mary met the love of her life, Don. Along with Don came three step children, Donny, Jessica, and Ashley, whom Mary looked at as her own children. In 1994, Don and Mary welcomed their son, Zack, and the family was complete. Don and Mary wed in August of 1997, in Chetek, WI. The family would later move from Milwaukee to Ashippun in 2002.

Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved to be surrounded by family. Vacationing in Chetek was a highlight of every year. Even through her battle with cancer, she made it a point to be at as many family events as possible. She didn’t want to miss a minute.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Donald Schneck; brothers, Gary and Mark Schneck; and her father-in-law, Donald E. Svitak. She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Svitak; her son, Zack (Carly) Svitak; her step-children, Donny Svitak, Jessica (Brad) Gunderson, Ashley (Adam) Johnson; her grandchildren Carter, Emrie, Ethan, Jack, Parker, Alex, and Amelia; as well as many other family members and close friends.

Mary’s family would genuinely like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospice for their care and persistent efforts.

A memorial service will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (New Location: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 5:00 pm with a service at 7:00 pm. There will be a funeral service and burial at Wisconsin Memorial in Brookfield, WI on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 am.
