Mary Boerger Spees (nee Riker) Daughter of William and Mabel (nee LaMontagne) Riker, who preceded her in death. She had one sister Genevieve Riker, who also preceded her in death. In 1953 Mary married Carl J. Boerger, Wausau, WI; he preceded her in death in 1982. In 1993 Mary married Hubert Spees who preceded her in death in 2006. Mary was clerk of court and court reporter for Marathon County Courts in Wausau until she retired in 1953. She married Carl and moved to Milwaukee, and later to Hartland. Mary and Carl were well known for raising and showing Shetland Sheep dogs and were members of American Shetland Sheep Dog Club. Mary and Hubert married in 1993 and they resided in Hartland, and spent their winters in Jensen Beach, FL. In 2000 Mary and Hubert moved to Masonic Village on the Square, where Mary and Hubert resided until death. For more than sixty years Mary has been a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Mary served as president of that club in Wausau and later in Milwaukee. She also served on the state board. Mary was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Hartland for many years. She became a member of St. Bruno’s Catholic Church in Dousman when she moved to MVOS. Other associations that Mary belonged to were the Hawks Inn Society and the Hartland Women’s Club. Mary is survived by her stepdaughter-in-law Robin (Dan) Mallman-Olson of Jackson and stepdaughter-in-law Marcia (Dr. Richard) Voss of Ripon, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mary will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Dousman, WI. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to AngelsGrace Hospice, St. Bruno’s Catholic Church or the scholarship fund at Compass Point.
