Michael Dale Wojtkunski
November 7th, 1949 - October 22nd, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Dale Wojtkunski on October 22nd, 2024. He was 74 years old and fought with every last breath to stay with Gail and the family he so dearly loved.
Michael was born on November 7th, 1949 in Whitewater, WI. He was the son of Neva and Michael. He grew up on a farm in Palmyra, Wisconsin, where he learned to love all things mechanical. He had a successful career as an Operating Engineer, working at B.R. Amon and Sons for 23 years. After retiring Michael continued to use his many talents in a variety of ways.
Michael welcomed two beloved children, Rebecca in 1972 and Joshua in 1973. Michael often spoke of their childhood which included adventures with Penny the raccoon, raised from a kit, and late-night tractor rides with sleeping children. After meeting Gail in 1994, the two married in 1996. Michael was a truly devoted husband for 28 years. Michael and Gail enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. It didn't matter what they were doing, they enjoyed doing it together. They found joy in traveling all over, favorite trips included Charleston, SC, Hawaii, Palm Springs, CA, and a cruise in the Caribbean. In his retirement Michael took on a new challenge, restoring an MGB.
He will be remembered for his generosity, in caring for others. He donated his time as a pilot for the Make A Wish foundation, doing good works for his church, and building swing sets among other things for his grandkids. Michael could be handed a bag of parts and put something together that worked. Michael loved music, and at one time he was an accomplished musician. Michael had a soft spot for his furry and feathered friends, treating each and every one like a valued family member.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Sandra Wojtkunski; brothers Robert and Edward (Mary) Wojtkunski; and his treasured older sister Carol Gabriel. Michael is survived by the family that he dearly loved. His wife, Gail Elizabeth (Moreen) Wojtkunski;, children Rebecca Wojtkunski and Joshua Wojtkunski; stepchildren Erin (Jake) Gould, Krista (Brian) Willing; grandchildren Emin Wojtkunski, Brenna and Harper Gould, Lillian and Mason Willing; siblings William Wojtkunski, Thomas (Cathy) Wojtkunski and sister Mary Wojtkunski; brother-in-law Ron Gabriel; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 9th at Church of the Resurrection in Pewaukee, WI (W287N3700 N Shore Dr, Pewaukee, WI 53072) at 11 am. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, Michael’s family requests that any memorials be given to the Church of the Resurrection. We would like to thank the many wonderful caring doctors and health care professionals who supported Michael through this very challenging journey. He had the best of care, and we are very grateful to so many. Pagenkopf Funeral Home is serving the family.
