Monay Susan Lyles, age 47 of Dousman, passed away after a courageous three-year battle with cancer, and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Monay is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Brad; adventurous sons whom she adored, Quinn and Mason; mother, Anna Lee (the late Joel) Scholle of Wichita; sister, Tiffany (Greg) Whisler of Mount Prospect, sister, Nicole (Lee) Huffhines of Lorena; in-laws, Kathy (the late Gerald) Lyles of Merton and sister-in-law, Jennifer (Toby Vansistine) Lyles of Merton. Loving Aunt to Vienna, Megan, Parker, and Julia; additionally the numerous relatives and friends throughout that remember Monay in; Kansas, Texas, and Wisconsin. Monay was always up for an adventure, she enjoyed traveling the world. Prior to each new trip, she would spend hours researching out the must see locations, while also listing out the top restaurants to experience the local cuisine. A lover of wine, Monay enjoyed trying new wines, learning about the process of making wine, and experiencing wineries all over the country. A lover a college athletics regardless of the team (or sport), Monay could be found on Saturday afternoons catching up on a book while taking in a game. Monay had a deep love for the state of Texas, to know Monay was to know Texas and to know the culture of Texas was to know who Monay was at the core. Her larger than life personality, loyalty, diverse interests, fighting spirit, and love for sports was reflective of the state she deeply loved. Always one to think of others before herself, Monay’s acts of kindness were legendary. From the planning a friends amazing birthday party, showing up at a friend’s front door with a “just because” gift, and the times she pulled off the perfect surprise by finding a hotel or a ticket to a special event for a family member or a friend was reflective of her unselfish nature to always put others before herself. Monay loved being “A boy mom,” chasing Quinn and Mason around the house for light saber battles that were frequently followed by an evening of board game matches. She was a highly involved parent who loved cheering on her boys in basketball, football, and baseball. Her love for puzzles, baking, and gardening leaned into her organized structured talents that served her well in her twenty-year career in the sports travel and the hospitality industries. Monay, a graduate of Baylor University, could be found with her boys cheering on her Bears throughout the football and basketball seasons. She worked for Conference USA for 10 years and most recently was Director of Events for The Grand Geneva Resort and Space, in Lake Geneva, WI. Monay’s genuine loving personality, passion for life, work ethic, and ability to connect with everyone made for an amazing wife, mother, leader and friend. Monay’s infectious smile, love for life, and large heart will be missed by all. The family will be taking time to process their loss, and then begin the planning of a celebration of Monay’s life. The family will communicate details regarding the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Monay’s honor are suggested to the family for the boy’s future education.
