Myrtle was born July 10, 1919 in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was married to Orville for 71 years. Together they had five children, Christine (Del) Paullin), Melody (Richard) Backus, Valerie Steffens, Gaye (Greg) Pietrocola) and Darryl (Debbie) Scheuers. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Ryan Backus; her parents; siblings; aunts and uncles. Those Myrtle leaves behind to cherish her memory are; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many external family members. Myrtle loved being a homemaker and loved going to flea markets. She enjoyed writing so much that she took a creative writing class. She was a nurse’s aide at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital for many years. She wrote the slogan, “Many hands pulling together form a shield for our healing endeavor,” after 9-11, in which she won an award. Our mother had a deep Christian faith and never wavered from it. She was a follower of Jesus Christ. Next to her faith, her greatest love was her family. Her granddaughter Shelly shared “you were not just a grandma to me, but a true friend. You have played a major part in making me who I am today. You taught me the value of love and compassion. Those memories will be cherished for the rest of my life.” We are forever grateful for your guidance and unconditional love, the value of family and always being there when we needed you most. We will miss you. Until we meet again, you will forever be in our hearts. A private celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
