Nancy Anderson

Nancy Liedtke Anderson, of Dousman WI, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday June 7th, 2015. Born December 28, 1926, Nancy grew up in La Grange Park, IL. She was the eldest daughter of Fred and Agnes (Smith) Liedtke. After graduating from Lyons Township High School, Nancy attended the University of Cincinnati, where she received a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. On June 5th, 1954, Nancy Liedtke married Roy T. Anderson Jr, of Winnetka IL. They were married for almost 56 years. Nancy and Roy raised their five children in Deerfield, IL, where they lived for over 30 years. Along with raising and nurturing her family, Nancy had a dedicated career in early childhood education. She worked as a nursery school, special education and Sunday school teacher/director. Her care for others knew no bounds, especially for children. Nancy was involved with her church as a member of various groups and volunteer work at the First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield. Nancy's artistic crafts were a big part of her life. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, and antiques. Nancy was still knitting prayer shawls for others during her last years. In the early 1990’s, Nancy and Roy moved to the quiet community of Pretty Lake, in Dousman WI, where they spent their remaining years. Nancy was very active at the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa and served as their librarian for several years. She also volunteered at the Hawk’s Inn, in Delafield WI. Nancy had an avid interest in history and preservation. Roy Anderson passed away in 2010, Nancy was also preceded in death by her sister JoAnn (Gordon) Lohman. She is survived by her two brothers Fred (MaryAnn) Liedtke and Charles (Carol) Liedtke as well as her five children; Roger (Kitty) Anderson, Donald Anderson, Laura (Layne) Pitt, Mary (Brett) Harrison and Susan Loreth. Nancy is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Family was the most important part of her life which is evident by the love everyone has for her. She will be truly missed by all, as she was the one person that made everyone know they were loved. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, the date has yet to be determined.
