Nancy Meyer

Nancy (Reynolds) Meyer 12/01/1938-05/17/2024

Nancy found peace from her long struggle with dementia and was reunited in heaven with her devoted husband David on May 17, 2024. Nancy grew up in Milwaukee, WI and attended Rufus King High School. She went on to earn her laboratory technologist degree at Marquette University. She worked as a histologist in the pathology labs at both Mt. Sinai in Milwaukee and Waukesha Memorial Hospital. During summers, she worked as a waitress at Molgaard’s Indian Lodge in St. Germain where she waited on and later fell in love with David Meyer. They were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan on March 6, 1971. Children soon followed, and over the years Nancy and Dave raised Carey, Kyle, and Kevin at their home in Sullivan. Later Nancy and Dave moved to their home on Golden Lake to help take care of Nancy’s mother.

Nancy loved being a mother and a grandmother. She could never sit still for long, and enjoyed playing with her kids in the lake and taking her grandkids out on the boat or to the park at every opportunity. Spoiling her grandchildren was a source of pride for Nancy, and she made sure there was always a cookie waiting for them when they came in from playing outside. Her freezer was perpetually stocked with ice cream treats for kids of all ages.

Besides her family, Nancy’s greatest love was her home up north in Sugar Camp, WI. She bought a small hunting shack on Sand Lake all on her own when she was in her early 20’s. Nancy certainly knew what “a girl would want with a cabin”, and spent as much of her summer time up there as she could. Later on, that old hunting shack was replaced by a larger home, and Nancy and Dave would spend time up there year-round. They were famous for their New Year’s gatherings with friends and neighbors at “the cabin”.

Nancy had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. It was hard not to laugh when you were around her. She loved to dance at every opportunity and bragged about winning a “Twist Contest” in her youth. Her desire to make friends and be a part of her community led her to volunteer with a local food pantry as well as the Ladies’ Aide group at her church.

Those family members Nancy leaves behind are her children Carey, Kyle, and Kevin as well as grandchildren Connor and Breanne Cameron, Deston and Colten Meyer, her brother Terrance (Lynn) Reynolds, nephews Douglas and Michael Reynolds, niece Courtney Reynolds (Steve Pappas). In addition to David, she was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Lucille Reynolds, her in-laws Lester and Edna Meyer as well as her brother Thomas Reynolds.
