It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Norma Tunak of Ashippun, who passed away on November 6, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family who loved and admired her for the wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she was. For 91 years, she graced us with her presence, quiet strength, calm demeanor, and beauty inside and out.
Norma Tunak was born to the late Erna and Robert Nagel in Iron Ridge, WI, on July 11, 1933. On February 3, 1952, Norma was united in marriage to William (Bill) R. Tunak. They made Ashippun their home where they raised eight children. Norma also provided daycare for many other children in the Ashippun area, too many to count. Norma enjoyed playing cards, playing dartball in the church league, polka music, sewing, crocheting and knitting, canning and baking. Norma’s specialty was making snack mix for family and friends. Norma had the gift of service and volunteered for the Ashippun Fire Department events, Zion Church Ladies Group, election worker and oversaw bingo at Shorehaven Health Center for many years, recruiting a number of young people to help. Her life has been her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Norma is survived by eight children: Clyde (Holly), Karen Walheim (Lowell), Allen (Susan), Dale (Wendy), Brian (Ann), Mary Martin (Troy), Paul (Joann) and Heidi Tunak.
Norma is further survived by 11 grandchildren: Philip (Jake) Blavat, Gayle (Jason) Brown, Lindsey Tunak, Danielle Tunak, Kimberly (Johnny) Schuldt, Melissa (Chris) Lowery, Bradley (Sara) Tunak, Kyle (Morgan) Tunak, Stephanie (Brad) Given, Abby (Isaac) Daniel and Leah Roskopf.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Myranda Brown, Sawyer Blavat, Hayden Blavat, Isaac Ottman, Kylie Ottman, Brianna Schuldt, Tyler Tunak, Dylan White, Alexander Lowery, Noah Given, Ellie Given, Marin Given, and Wylen Daniel.
Norma is survived by 11 brothers and sisters and one sister-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews and special friends, Gary and Debbie.
Norma was predeceased by husband, William Tunak, Parents Robert and Erna Nagel, Grandchildren Ryan and Tiffany Tunak, and daughter-in-law, Heidi (Wendorff) Tunak.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church with visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m., the service at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church-window fund, Ashippun Fire Department or Shorehaven’s Charitable Foundation.
