Paul Bowser Sr. Obituary - August 19th, 1946 - August 12th, 2024

Paul Clifton Bowser Sr. lost his battle with Parkinson’s on August 12th, 2024 at the age of 77, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. The song, "It is Well" was playing softly as he took his last breath, as a family we encourage you to listen to it, truly his heart's prayer. We are heartbroken by the loss of such a tremendous man, but we do not grieve without hope! We rejoice knowing he is at peace, his broken body is restored, and he is worshiping our Savior! What a comfort that brings to our hearts!

Born in Malden, MA on August 19th, 1946 to Clarence “Bud” and Dorthea “Dot” Bowser. Paul was known to many as a faithful husband, father, grandfather, Pastor, counselor, and friend. A list that could easily go on and on… to know Paul is to love him and his heart for loving and serving others. We know there are thousands of you that have been touched by his ministry and friendship. Paul served faithfully in pastoral ministry for over 50 years, devoting himself to the care and shepherding of many church congregations across the US from Arizona, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Serving others, studying the Word of God, and desiring all to know the love of God was truly Paul’s greatest desire in life. Those who had the chance to sit under his ministry know his faithfulness in following that calling. Paul was an accomplished scholar obtaining several Master's degrees in theology from Baptist Bible College, and Andersonville Theological Seminary. In addition to his faithful service in ministry, he also served our country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971 stationed in both Turkey and Germany.

As his Parkinson’s disease progressed, he retired from serving in ministry and enjoyed several years devoted to time with his loved ones, still always finding ways to love and encourage them through the Word of God, even as Parkinson’s overtook his body. His legacy lives on through his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Lou Bowser, who he loved more than anything. His children Pam (Scott) Lohnes, Paula (Ryan) Dora, and Paul (Jen) Bowser Jr.. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren; Kayla (John Mark) Norton, Joshua (Rachel) Lohnes, Kelsey Lohnes, Jared (Bellamy) Lohnes, Taylor (Jordan) Smith, Hunter Dora, Beckham Bowser, Colton Bowser, Audrey Bowser, and Hudson Bowser. Two great-grandchildren Franklin Lohnes and Scottie Lou Norton. He also leaves behind his 3 sisters Becky (Ken) Hodil, Joanne Brinker, Bonnie (Richard) Robertson, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bud and Dot Bowser. He eagerly awaited their reunion in heaven.

We’ve created a memorial fund with the hope of supporting Sandy, Paul’s wife in the wake of his loss and bring relief to the medical bills and memorial expenses. We know she would be greatly blessed by any support she might receive at this time. Whether through prayers, sharing how Paul played a part in your life, or any donation amount.

A funeral service for Paul will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of service. A private reception will follow the service for the family.  A private burial will take place on Tuesday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

As Paul would have wanted, we’ll leave you all with one last word of encouragement, his favorite verse, Romans 8:28. “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
