Peter Vincent Jahnke D.D.S.

Peter V. Jahnke DDS, 54, of Oconomowoc, passed away on June 25, 2014 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Yvonne, daughter Dr. Mary Frances of Wauwatosa, mother Shirley of Columbus, Wis., brothers Nic (Carol) of Middleburg, Va., Fred (Gail) of Madison, Paul (Sue) of Columbus, Mark (Deb) of Janesville; nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Earl Jahnke, and his sister Mary Pat Hansen. Peter was a board certified Periodontist who practiced in Oconomowoc for the last 20 years. He was a 1985 graduate of Marquette School of Dentistry and served as a Naval dental officer from 1985-1993 where he completed his post graduate studies in Periodontics at Bethesda Naval Hospital. He was an assistant adjunct clinical professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry from 1993-2009, and a member of a number of professional associations and academic study clubs including the Frank Spear Faculty Club and the Seattle Study Club. A devout Catholic, Peter was active in his home parish of St. Jerome in Oconomowoc serving as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2487, the Veritas Society and Wisconsin Right to Life. He was an active supporter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was the Milwaukee Archdiocese section representative for the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Peter was an avid fly fisherman, Audi enthusiast and world traveler. A recent highlight for Peter was attending the World ITI Symposium in Geneva, Switzerland with his wife and daughter. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Oconomowoc, with a funeral Mass immediately following. Private burial will take place at St. Jerome Cemetery in Oconomowoc. The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the medical staff at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital for the love and dignity they showed Peter during his brief stay. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Knights of Columbus Local Council 2487, or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Waukesha County are appreciated.
