Philip Braatz

Philip L. Braatz, 81, of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, July 26, 2013. Phil is survived by his sons Douglas (Polly) Braatz and David Braatz, grandchildren Derek (Tracy) Braatz, Stephanie (Henry) Uselman, Alexander and Annie Braatz, great-grandchildren Kodie, Roman and Benjamin, sisters Delores Johnson, Katherine Schemm and Joan (Eugene) Klauer, brothers Roy Braatz and Lawrence (Rose) Braatz. Also survived by many other relatives and friends. Phil is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dolores, parents Louis and Evelyn Braatz, sister Mildred Kloth and twin brother John Braatz. Phil was a deputy with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, a police officer with the Village of Oconomowoc Lake P.D. and the Town of Summit P.D. He retired from Cooper Power of Waukesha. After retirement Phil worked as a bagger at Sentry Foods and a driver at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield. He served in the US Army and was a proud Korean War veteran. Phil was a past Commander and County Commander with the American Legion Post #91 and lifetime member of the V.F.W Post #2260 in Oconomowoc. He enjoyed watching and attending professional and local sporting events and spending time with his family and friends. A memorial service for Phil will take place at Dr. Martin Luther Church in Oconomowoc on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Phil's name to any local veteran service organization. Special thank you to all the staff at Watertown Memorial Hospital and the UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison.
