Phyllis went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 13, 2018 at age 85. Loving wife of 58 years to Donald Marks. Beloved mother of Susan (Jim) Cerroni, Charlie (Cathy) Marks, Donna (Paul) Manley, and Tom (Lisa) Marks; loving grandmother to Chad (Kendra) Cerroni, Lauran (Craig) Landry, Stuart Marks, Paulina (Paul) Wise, Andy Marks, Peter Marks, John Manley, Daniel Cerroni, Tim Manley, Julius Marks, and Augie Marks; precious great grandmother to Lazar, Giovanni, Paxton, Kal, Mila, Brayden, Bella, and Leo; along with other cherished brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Phyllis was born, August 09, 1932, to Maurice and Lillian Boyce and was preceded in death by her only brother Warner 'Billy' Boyce. She grew up in the small town lake area of the Delavan/Lake Geneva. She enjoyed school activities such as music, dancing, movies and lake activities. She spent a great deal of time becoming a talented clarinet player and was privileged to march and play at some prominent events through out the country. She was on prom court with her friends and stayed close to her childhood/high school classmates through her entire life. After graduating high school, Phyllis earned her degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She returned home to work at the Delavan School for the Deaf in administration. It was there that she met Donnie while he was teaching and coaching football at the school. We fondly treasure the stories we hear about their courting days from their many life long friends from Delavan. We have been told that while Phyllis won his heart, we do believe that her interest in football may have had something to do with it. A special thank you to Milton and Joy for their remembrances. Don and Phyllis moved to Waukesha in the 1950's where they lived the remainder of their lives. Phyllis loved her family dearly, she was always sacrificing her own needs for who ever needed something. She gave of herself always, finding time to talk with anyone who needed and she had a way to make you feel like you were special. She was a loving daughter and wife, she loved being a mom, but especially LOVED being a grandma. Her grandchildren were dear to her heart. She loved taking them to the park. Her 8 great grandchildren 'Were a gift from Heaven', she would say. Don and Phyllis were blessed and loved to bless others. They created many special memories with family and friends. A trip to Mackinaw Island, MI for the family, Christmas', holidays, family dinners, and a lake home on Silver Lake in Wautoma, WI. Growing up at the lake with relatives and friends will be forever in our hearts among our most treasured memories. Growing up at the lake included endless days: swimming, boating, skiing, fishing, turtle hunting, fireworks, sunny summer days floating on inner tubes, concrete pouring, sunburns, no sleep, up all night playing cards, lots of yelling, wiffle ball, bocci ball on the beach, long walks around the lake on the winding roads, climbing trees and roofs, remodeling, night games, trips to the candy store, grandchildren playing with toys in the water and the sand, the paddle boat, grandmas and grandpas, family reunions, big cookouts, church and LOTS OF FAMILY TIME TOGETHER. Treasures. Don and Phyllis wintered in Cocoa Beach and Pensacola, Florida for 20 some winters; visits from family coming down for beach time and Disney World adventures were cherished. They were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 60 years. They enjoyed growing old together raising their family in the Waukesha Community. Friday night football activities, card clubs, trips with friends, family get-togethers and the 'Friday Morning Breakfast Club', were very dear to their hearts. Friday morning's meant fun, laughter, pictures, singing and tremendous encouragement to each other. A heartfelt thank you to all of their dear friends who showed them so much love and encouragement. Our parents were so blessed from God, their family and their kind and wonderful friends. May God Bless you all. Proverbs 3:5-6 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.' A private celebration of life was held with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations to AngelsGrace Hospice (N74 W35908 Servants' Way, Oconomowoc, WI 53066; 262-468-0115) are welcome.
