Phyllis S. Wichman

Phyllis S. Wichman (nee Sorenson), age 89 of Summit, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2015 with her beloved husband Jack by her side. Phyllis was born on April 3, 1926 to Glen Sorenson and Inez Barnhart Sorenson. Phyllis had three brothers, Floyd, Bob and Philip along with one sister, Carol Sorenson Steger. Phyllis married her “farm boy”, Jack Wichman, on August 22, 1948. They had two daughters, Sally Wichman Larsen, and Susan Wichman Grohn. She loved watching her three granddaughters grow up, and hearing and seeing every milestone reached by her five great-grandchildren. Phyllis was smart, funny, kind and sassy! She made friends easily and was always interested in others. She valued education, enjoyed travel and appreciated a good brandy old fashion. She was known for hosting poopoo time. Neighbors, relatives and friends were always welcome to stop in late afternoon for a brandy, cheese, crackers and herring…a tradition her and Jack enjoyed together for over 60 years. She would be the first to tell you not to send flowers or money for a memorial. Take a trip, lean something new, or donate to something that will help others. Our family would like to thank our devoted relatives and neighbors who have helped all of us over the years. Your kindness can never be fully repaid. We would also like to thank the people who cared for her every day at THE LANDING. You became her family. She talked about you all the time and loved you very much. You gave our entire family the precious gift of seeing our mother and wife transition with strength and dignity. A private family gathering was held to honor Phyllis, as per her wishes.
