Polly Ann Schwartzmiller

Polly Ann (Hein) Schwartzmiller, age 73, of Eagle, WI, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving husband, Carl, and their golden retriever, Libby, on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Born on September 21, 1951, in Elkhorn, WI, Polly was the youngest of five children of Clarence and Evelyn Hein.

A proud graduate of Evangelical Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1972, Polly devoted her life to caring for others, forging lifelong friendships throughout her career, including her years with Aurora Healthcare.

On May 7, 1977, Polly married Carl, the love of her life. Together, they shared 47 wonderful years and raised four children, Becky, Marc, Kevin, and Janel.

Polly found joy in spending time with friends and family, especially playing games. Card games were a particular favorite of Polly’s. Fondly known as the ‘Queen of Mahjong’ by her group, she enjoyed teaching others how to play and treasured the friendships formed through the game. Polly was an exquisite quilter and enjoyed sewing quilts for her family and friends, who proudly display her works of art.

Polly had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling. When her kids were younger, they embarked on many camping and boating trips in northern Wisconsin.

With her big personality and warm, fiery spirit, Polly made friends easily and was often the life of the party. Her kindness, humor, and spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Evelyn Hein, and three of her siblings, Nancy Hein, Don (Darlene) Hein, and Jimmy (Donna) Hein. She is survived by her husband, Carl; four children, Becky (Doug) Kranz, Marc (Amber Dallman) Schwartzmiller, Kevin (Kelly) Schwartzmiller, and Janel (Mike) Frievalt; four grandchildren, Fritz, Elsie, Norah, and Jasper Schwartzmiller; and brother, Loran Hein. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11:00 am to noon at First Congregational United Church of Christ: 815 S. Concord Road, Oconomowoc, WI 53066. A service will follow at noon until 1:00 pm, with lunch immediately thereafter.
