Ricardo "Rico" Torres

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ricardo “Rico” Torres, age 75, who passed away on December 9, 2024. Rico was born on April 25, 1949, in Waukesha, WI to Antonio and Socorro (nee Llanas) Torres. Rico served in the United States Army and saw combat in the Vietnam war. Rico was an infantry sergeant and printing specialist.

Rico had a natural talent for printing that emerged at an early age. He learned the intricacies of the printing industry from his father, carrying on a legacy that would shape his lifelong career. This passion for the craft flourished as he entered the military, further honing his skills in printing and eventually establishing his own press that showcased his exceptional lettering abilities.

He was a gentle soul known for his unwavering devotion to his family. He took immense joy in making others smile, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his granddaughters, who brought him boundless happiness. He was a regular at theater performances and basketball games, where he could often be found enjoying his popcorn and cheering from the bleachers.

A dedicated lover of the outdoors, Rico found solace in camping trips, fishing adventures, and motorcycle journeys with his beloved wife, Maria. He had a passion for ice fishing and enjoyed the thrill of hunting. With a heart full of nostalgia, he savored the classic Westerns, the vibrant rhythms of mariachi and Motown music, and the process of cooking traditional Mexican dishes, particularly the cherished recipes of his mother and grandmother which included tamales and menudo, which brought friends and family together.

Rico’s zest for life was contagious; he was known for his remarkable dancing skills and would often light up the room at family gatherings with his energy and enthusiasm. A passionate Green Bay Packers fan, he spent many treasured moments surrounded by family and friends, cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty.

Rico was also a passionate pool player, sharing the joy of the game with his son and instilling in him a lifelong love for it. Together, they traveled to pool tournaments, creating unforgettable memories along the way.

He was also a cherished member of the Llanas family, where he found a sense of belonging that only a large and loving family can provide. His heart was as expansive as his family ties, and he will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and the warmth he brought into every room he entered.

Rico is survived by his loving wife, Maria; children Ricardo (Vaughn) and Andrea (Brian) Kazinski; grandchildren Breeanna Kazinski, Vaughn Braelyn Torres and Leila Torres; sisters Esther (Bob) Ludwig; nieces and nephew Christina, Richard, and Michael and Gracie (George Maldonado)Torres-Maldonado nieces Alexandria and Lauren; along with Maria's siblings and their families; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and family and friends.

Rico is preceded in death by his parents.
