Richard D. Behling

Richard D. Behling of Hartford, WI, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He will be remembered by many for his quick wit and compassion. Rich married Rochelle Behling (nee Krueger) on October 8th 1988 their marriage was happily blessed with two daughters Rachel (Kyle) Zastrow and Rebecca (fianc Nick) Behling. Rich worked as an engineer for 30 years, most recently at Plastic Components Inc. where his coworkers have fond memories of work gatherings held at his Druid lake home. At home, Rich would unwind by playing fetch with his dogs or sitting by the campfire. Rich touched the lives of many through his gregarious smile and sense of humor. He saw the good things in people and situations; always the optimist. Rich cared about his church and was actively involved in Habitat for Humanity, Family Promise and yearly mission trips, he was passionate about helping those in need and these commitments energized him. Also survived by parents Donald and Susan Behling; his mother-in-law Arleen Krueger, brother Gregg (Lisa Manthy) Behling, sisters; Missy (Glen) Garski, Mandi (Bobby) Wiesner; sister-in-law Natalie (Jerry) Zellmer; his nieces and nephews Jason (Becca) Zellmer, Nicole (fianc Blake) Zellmer, Jenna (fianc Josh) and Haley Garski, Tyler Zellmer, Matthew Behling, and Bailey and Reagan Wiesner; his great nieces Ava and Lauren Zellmer and many many more family and friends. A memorial service for Rich will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ (815 S. Concord Rd, Oconomowoc) on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1 pm. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ or to Habitat for Humanity of Dodge and Washington County. Rich will be greatly missed and holds a special place in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have met and known him. Habitat for Humanity is hosting 'Bubba Behls Bash for Habitat for Humanity' at Bilda's Friess Lake Pub (4493 Hwy 167, Hubertus, WI 53033) on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 12 pm until 6 pm.
