Dr. Richard E. Haney, age 86 of Dousman, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013. Dick is survived by his loving wife Dawn (nee Meyer), children Ruth (Glenn) Christensen, Robert Haney, Richard Haney and Paul (Gina) Haney, grandchildren Zella Christensen, Jackson and Jordan Haney, brother John (Diane) Haney, along with other relatives and friends. A memorial service for Dick will be on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Brown Deer, Wisconsin at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at the church for family and friends from 10:00 AM until time of service. Memorials are suggested to Richard E. and Dawn A. Haney Scholarship Fund, Parkinson's Disease Foundation or Brown Deer United Methodist Church. Dr. Richard E. Haney attended University of Wisconsin Madison and received his PhD in Education. He went on to teach at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, where he was the first Professor of Science Education, teaching science teachers how to teach science. He served as the president of West Allis Teacher's Association, School Science and Mathematics Association and Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers. Dick also was chairman of the Board of Vocational Educational Opportunities, and served as a lay speaker at the United Methodist Church. Dick served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Radar Specialist. He enjoyed traveling with his family and camping all over the USA. In his later years, Dick took up overseas touring and cruising. Dick also loved spending summers at the family cottage on Lake Metonga in Crandon, WI. He spent his free time working on home improvement projects in the basement workshop, and hunting and hiking in the North Woods, and being a husband, father and grandpa.
