Loepfe, Richard- died at Alexian Village in Brown Deer on Sunday,October 31st, 2010. Dick lived a very full life. He attended Riverside High School where he played football, graduated and arrived at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 1940. He played football his freshman and sophomore years before World War II interrupted his education. He entered the United States Navy in 1942 and served four years. Soon after he returned to Wisconsin he met and married Hazel Ramthun. Together they moved back to Madison where Dick continued his studies and again played football for the Badgers. It was a special time and he developed many of his lifelong friendships. Dick introduced his freshman sister Mary Loepfe to his teammate Ralph Davis, who later became Dick's brother-in-law! They both went on to play professionally, Dick with the Cardinals who were at that time in Chicago, and Ralph with the Green Bay Packers. He retired from football and went to work for the Heller family in the elevator business. Dick finished his career at Westinghouse in the elevator division. One of his major achievements was securing the contract for the Sears Tower in Chicago. Hazel died shortly thereafter and Dick met and married Arlyne (DeDe) Austrup several years later. They lived together in Mequon where they had terrific neighbors and friends and a Friday fish fry ritual at Pandls! Their last few years together were at Alexian Village before her death in 2009. Dick and Hazel raised two children, Pam (Dale) Hansen and Bob ( Lola) Loepfe. He is also survived by his sister Mary Davis, his nieces and nephew,Sandy, Laurie and Corby, their spouses and children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dick was an avid sports enthusiast! He attended Badger football games and loved tailgating with his former teammates and friends. Dick was a past president of the ' W ' Club. Dick was also a loyal follower of the Green Bay Packers! The family would like to thank the staff at Alexian Village and Dick's friends who continued to stay in touch, especially Lois and Art.
