Richard "Dick" Kossert, 84, of Nashotah WI was born to eternal life on September 18, 2019. Dick was born on October 20, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI. He was a graduate of Rufus King High School and became a carpenter by trade. He married his wife, Gwendolyn, in 1962. Dick had a large appetite for food and fortunately his wife was the best cook many have ever known. They welcomed their only child, a daughter, in 1964. He opened his own cabinet and countertop business, Nashotah Craftsman, in 1969. Forever taking pride in his accomplishments, Dick enjoyed seeing his work at local businesses well into his retirement, still there after all those years. He was a proud grandfather to his only grandchild, a grandson named for him. He enjoyed playing basketball throughout his life until, as he said, his shot was not as good as it used to be. Dick loved watching the Packers, Bucks and Brewers while enjoying a cold beer or brandy old fashioned. Having built up his home on Okauchee Lake and spending his youth in Iowa along the Mississippi, Dick was an avid fisherman. He looked forward to his fishing trips with his son-in-law to the World Championship Muskie Classic every year and to Canada. A warm soul with a kind heart and a unique laugh, Dick was willing to help friends and family alike overcome any adversity they faced. Whether it took money or hard work, he was there with a smile to see his loved ones through their hardship. He was a generous man who left a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he loved. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gwendolyn Kossert; his mother, Cecilia Mary Kossert (nee Bertsch); his brother, Fredrick Kossert; his mentor, "Grandpa" Raymond Dorvinen; and his uncles, M.C. "Butsy" (Bonita) Bertsch and Raymond Leo Bertsch. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Barbara (Lee) Rademan; his grandson, Richard Kossert (Megan) Rademan; and was expecting to be a great-grandfather in April of 2020. He is further survived by his cousins Roger Kossert and Carolyn (Paul) Lohmiller and many nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends and neighbors. The family would like to extended their appreciation for the excellent care to AngelsGrace Hospice, whose staff helped make the passing of this great man easier on his grieving family. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to AngelsGrace Hospice Facility or Big Cedar Lake Thursday Night Fishing Club.
