Robert Theodore Bolson, age 93, Watertown, died peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2019, surrounded by family at Jefferson Memory Care/Rainbow Hospice. Robert was born on July 29, 1925, in Oconomowoc, the son of Theodore and Alice Bolson. He later married the center of his universe for over 66 years, Bernice C. Scheels, on Jan. 5, 1949 at St. John¹s Lutheran church in Sullivan. Robert proudly served in WWII in the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment operator in the European campaign. He seldom spoke of the terrible things he witnessed while there. Recently, he was very happy to be able to experience the Honor Flight to Washington with his son, Jim. Robert was a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran of Clearwater, Fla., and St. Matthew¹s Lutheran in Oconomowoc. Robert worked in construction or maintenance for most of his life. He and his wife Bernice enjoyed many summers in the Oconomowoc area, while living full time in Florida for 42 years. They recently moved back to the area in 2013. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball and spending time with family, helping out with any project that might be going on. He and Bernice also enjoyed time traveling in their RV in their retirement years. Robert is survived by a sister, Dorothy Sindberg; two sons, James (Jean) Bolson and Scott (Lynn) Bolson; five grandchildren, Andrea (John) Bolson Wagner, Greg (Angie) Bolson, Michael (Jeannie) Bolson, Christopher (Jen) Bolson, and Robert (Larissa) Bolson; and nine great-grandchildren, Marek, Finnley, Grant, Ailey, Lydia, James, Caden, Maddox, and Colin. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley and Jane; and his wife, Bernice. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Wilkinson Woods Assisted Living, Jefferson Memory Care, and Rainbow Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Memorial services will take place at St. Matthew¹s Lutheran Church, 818 W. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc, on Saturday, May 25, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will also take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences can be viewed at www.pagenkopf.com.
