Robert Dascenzo (Sonny/Deacon) age 91 of Pewaukee, passed away peacefully on his 91st birthday, surrounded by his family. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Molly, his children Bobby (Susan) Dascenzo, Sue (Dennis) Carpenter and Yvonne (Mike) McGavock. His grand children Melisa Smith, Chad (Julie) Carpenter, Kyle (Sarah) Carpenter and Holly (Kevin) Dineen along with great-grandchildren Ty and Elise Carpenter. Sonny is further survived by his sisters Rosie Gjerdset and Harriet Tegge and brother August Dascenzo along with brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents John Dascenzo and Mary Smith and his sister Joanne Kienast. Sonny attended Waukesha High School and after joined the Army in 1948 and served until 1952 as an Honor Guard for General Douglas MacArthur in Japan. He then worked with Oliver Construction after the service and then became an Iron Worker for Lunda Construction. He was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 8 Union. In his retirement, Sonny liked to do wood working, travel with his wife Molly and most important to him, attend his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. A Mass of Christian Burial for Sonny will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at St. Anthony On The Lake with a visitation for family and friends starting at 9:30 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. A private burial will take place on Thursday at Union Grove Veteran Cemetery. Memorials in Robert’s honor are suggested to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Wisconsin.
