Roger E. Werth

Roger E. Werth, age 79 of Ixonia, passed away peacefully in Watertown on March 17, 2017. He was born on February 10, 1938 to Ewald and Jeanette (nee Koeppler) Werth. Roger was baptized on February 13, 1938 and confirmed on April 6, 1952. He was a 1957 graduate of Oconomowoc High School. Roger met the love of his life, Carole Owen at school and were married on May 30, 1959. Roger will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years Carole, Sons Robert Werth of Pewaukee and Kenneth (Lori) Werth of Watertown and his daughter Julie Moore of Ixonia. His seven grandchildren Amber (Nick) Hendrikson, Ashley Werth (fianc Chris Bruder), Corey Moore, Miranda Werth, Alex Moore, Hunter Werth and Daniel Gold. His four great-grandchildren Addyson Moore, Blair Gold-Douglas, Gracy Moore and Aiden Moore along with his dog Bear and many more realatives and many friends. Roger was a charter member of the Ixonia Lions Club with 37 years of perfect attendance. He was a fireman and an ambulance driver for Ixonia where he was an avid water fighter for several years. He worked for UPS for 27 years in Watertown before retiring in 1997. Since retiring, Roger has worked at Radtke Appliance in Oconomowoc. Roger then got into antiques and collectibles which was perfect for him because he loved to wheel and deal. He also met many friends along the way. Roger and Carole spent 13 winters in Mesa AZ where they met many friends from far and wide. His favorite past times were playing shuffleboard and playing Texas Hold em with their two poker clubs. Roger always looked forward to September when he, his sons and some of their friends, went up north for their annual Muskie fishing trip. A funeral service for Roger will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (210 E. Pleasant St. Oconomowoc) with the Rev. Steven Scharnel officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pagenkopf Funeral Home and then again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Ixonia fire department or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
