Ronald J Martin, age 79, was born on October 9, 1935 and passed away at home Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Ron was born in Fresno, California. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School. It was there he met the love of his life, Joanne Tupper-Martin. Ron learned the art of cheese making from Joanne's father, Red Tupper. Upon graduation, Ron joined the Army serving in Korea, Alaska, Germany and the National Guard (Clintonville, WI). He served the remainder of his 30 years of service as Sergeant First Class with the Army Reserve 395th of Appleton, WI. Ron considered the men of the 395th as part of his family. Ron was a patriot, a champion of freedom and serving to protect the Constitutional Rights we as Americans hold precious. Ron and Joanne were reunited later in their life and married. They shared a great love of life and family. Together they enjoyed 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Ron's children Rhonda, Todd, Julie, Scott and Kurt His grandchildren Zach, Tschana, Chelsea, Erin, Carli and Ryan His great grandchildren Kailea Jo, Hazel, James, Ivy and River Sons and daughter-in-laws Donna Martin, Jack Breslin Other family members Kai Rassmussen, Maria Latela, Matt Schiller, Jennifer Breslin, Noah Waldron and Eyal Bareli. Ron and Joanne loved nature. Their home became a sanctuary to the wild birds, geese, ducks, turkey, deer and the woodland critters. Ron loved to fish on his pond, grill and entertain his family and friends. The family would appreciate that any donations be made in honor of Ron to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or the Fisher House Foundation at www.fisherhouse.org A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 to celebrate Ron's life at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E Summit Ave, Oconomowoc, WI 53066, (262) 567-4457. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. A dinner celebration will be served at 5:30 at the Olympia Resort, Oconomowoc, WI following the memorial service.
