Ronald J. Mckinnon

Ronald J. McKinnon, age 78 of Oconomowoc WI, succumbed to cancer at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, on July 11, 2019. Ron was born January 25, 1941 to Kenneth and Ruby McKinnon (nee Post). He graduated from Sparta High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany as a Tracked Vehicle Mechanic. He was honorably discharged and went to work constructing 1-94 between Mauston and Tomah. In search of greener pastures and with the skills he learned moved to Milwaukee with his friend Gayle. There he would meet again and soon marry his soulmate Ruth, also from Sparta. Together they would sacrifice and endure over the years providing for their family, to ultimately settle on their hobby farm to raise horses which was his wife's lifelong dream. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth (nee Peters), three sons Derik, Christopher (Susan) and Preston (Michelle) McKinnon. Two granddaughters Alyssa and Hailey McKinnon, sister Pamela (Gerald) Shawley (nee Tuthill). He was preceded in death by his daughter Trinette,brother Donald, father Kenneth and mother Ruby McKinnon, aunt Gertrude Craig and his fishing partner father-in-law Raymond Peters. Services held on July 17th, 2019 at St. Jerome's Church in Oconomowoc at 995 Silver Lake Street with visitation from 11AM-12:30PM, mass at 12:30PM with lunch following. Ron will be laid to rest at 3:00PM at St. Jerome's Cemetery at 906 South Concord Road in Oconomowoc.
