Ronald Mallow

age 75, of Ashippun, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010, at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle against cancer. Ron was born on March 21, 1935, on the family farm in the Town of Ashippun; the son of Paul and Alice (nee Gennerman) Mallow. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashippun and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1953. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He married Joan Sommerfeld in 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. A dedicated community member, Ron was a former member of the Ashippun Fire Department and also served as supervisor for the Town of Ashippun for ten years. Ron was an active church member, serving on the church council numerous times. He also was a director for the Ixonia Mutual Insurance Company for twenty years. Ronald is survived by his wife Joan, son Greg Mallow of Ashippun, daughter Beth (David) Schmitz of Fort Atkinson, grandchildren Mikala and Austin Schmitz, sister LaVerne Krueger of Oconomowoc, along with many other relatives and friends. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Kenneth Krueger. If desired, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Building Fund, Ashippun, WI or to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral services for Ronald will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashippun at 7:00 p.m. A visitation for family, neighbors and friends will be at the church from 3:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia, WI at 10:00 a.m. Ron was a devoted father and dedicated to farming, even in “retirement”. He will be missed and forever in our hearts.
