Rose Marie LaChapelle, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 31, 2025. Rose was born in Calumet, MI on March 26, 1937 to Hubert and Rose (nee Musich) Frazer.
She is survived by her children Donald (Margaret), Robert (Susan), Joseph and James; her grandchildren David (Jennifer), Nancy (John) Asplund, Christoper LaChapelle, Bryan (Jodie) LaChapelle, Melanie (Calvin) Peronto, Jeffrey LaChapelle and Jennifer LaChapelle; great-grandchildren Olivia, Jackson, Musey, Clyde, Carson, Isla and Declan; siblings Ronald Frazer and Theresa Koshoilek; along with other family and friends.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband David; son Edward; brother Hubert (Butch); and her parents.
A proud graduate of Dollar Bay High School, Rose was recognized as the valedictorian of her class, showcasing her dedication and determination. Her passion for music shone through as she was an accomplished percussionist in the high school band, a testament to her vibrant spirit and love for the arts.
Rose was a devout Catholic and found comfort in her faith, praying rosary and devotions. An adventurous soul, Rose thrived on travel, whether it was through memorable road trips or scenic river cruises. Her journeys took her across the country and around the world, including cherished trips to Europe. An avid painter, Rose expressed her love for nature through her captivating oil paintings, often showcasing serene scenes of flowers, ducks, birds, and the enchanting wildlife that surrounded her.
Her passions were many, including her profound love for knitting and gardening. Her outdoor spaces bloomed with many vibrant flowers and she often found joy in shopping—especially for her grandchildren. She had an insatiable love for books and often finished a novel in a single day.
A devoted wife and nurturing mother, Rose embraced the role of caregiver, especially for her beloved son, Joe. Her loving nature extended beyond her family; she held a deep affection for her angels, which reflected her kind spirit and unwavering love. She found joy in the simplest of moments and possessed an innate ability to create a sense of comfort and peace in her home. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at St. Jerome Catholic Church (995 S. Silver Lake St. Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Rose. A service celebrating her life will follow immediately after.
