Russell F. Petersen Sr.

Russell F. Petersen Sr., age 92, from Oconomowoc, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Russell is survived by his children Jill (Chuck) Clopton, Russell (Sandie) Petersen Jr., his Daughter-in-Law Lori Petersen, Judy (Mark) Winkels and Sue (Curt) Duchow; his grandchildren Shaun (Shelley) Clopton, Michael and Brad Petersen, Meghan (Brian) Kier, Jenny (Darron) Smith, Tom Petersen, Chris, Dan and Amanda Winkels, Sarah (Clay) Pollack, Josh, Pat and Matt Duchow and his 16 great grandchildren. Russell is preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce Petersen, of 59 years, and his son Jeff. Russell was a WWII veteran in the US Army and received many honorary medals including the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. Russ' life revolved around his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were a special blessing in his life. He enjoyed going to horse shows to support them. He was instrumental in bringing a therapy dog to Shorehaven. Services will be held at Shorehaven Chapel (1305 W Wisconsin Ave, Oconomowoc) on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11am. A visitation will be held for family and friends at 10am with a private burial at Summit Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Meadowview Household at Shorehaven. The family would like to thank the staff at Shorehaven and Vitas Home Hospice for their loving care that they gave to dad.
