Ruth M. Secosh

Ruth M. (Breitenbach) Secosh, wife of the late Walter J. Secosh, passed away on July 27, 2019. Ruth is survived by her sons, Mark (Brooke) and Stephen (Susan); grandchildren, Peter, Amy and Nathan; and nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth was born July 31, 1916 to William and Caroline Breitenbach on the family farm at Soo Hill, outside of Escanaba; born premature and delivered by her mother. At a young age, the family moved to Escanaba, where she grew up with siblings: Frederick/Fritz (Mable) Breitenbach, Harriette (Vern) Aney, Theodore/Ted (Rose) Breitenbach, Louis/Lou (Dory) Breitenbach. Ruth moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she met her husband, Walter. Wally had a lot on Pewaukee Lake and after they married purchased the adjoining lot, with cottage, that became their home. They were residents for almost 50 years and the home where they raised their Sons, Mark and Steve. Among other jobs, Ruth most enjoyed her position as the Delafield Town Clerk from 1971-1981. Active in many organizations, Ruth was a den mother, 4-H leader, a member of Hawks Inn Historical Society, Golden Lasers, and Dousman Chapter 257 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was also active in church her entire life, appreciating the ministry services at the Pillars/Compass Point and being a member of St. Mary’s in Dousman, WI. Ruth was also an active member of St. Stephen’s in Escanaba, St. Anthony’s in Pewaukee and St. Charles in Hartland, WI. For the past 20 years, Ruth was a resident of the Pillars Community in Dousman, WI. She kept an independent living apartment until age 100, when she moved to assisted living. Ruth had many friends including both residents and staff. She especially appreciated the grounds at the Pillars where she gardened, fed the fish, bird-watched, and simply enjoyed frequent walks and the abundant nature. Services will be held on Friday, August 16th at Three Pillars Senior Living Community in the chapel. Visitation with family and friends at 1:00pm, Service at 2:00pm, followed by social.
