Shirley Ramseyer, age 77 of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at AngelsGrace Hospice. She was born in Oconomowoc, WI, on October 22, 1939 to Albert and Betty Stoltenburg. Shirley graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1957. She worked 11 years as a dental assistant in Oconomowoc for Dr. Maney and Dr. Koch. Later, she worked for the Oconomowoc School District for 23 years as a teaching assistant for Special Education. Shirl lived on Okauchee Lake since 1945. She married Jim Ramseyer in September, 1994. She loved the outdoors, children, animals, gardening and the lake. She also liked making home decorations. Shirl is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Jim, daughter Kelly (Larry) Neumann, grandchildren Jeffrey (Lexi), Alexander, Mackenzie, Hailey, Spencer and great grandchildren Rowen, Enzlee and another great grandson due in January. She is also survived by her stepchildren Therese, Daniel, Carrie and Michael, step grandchildren Elizabeth, Elijah John, Madeline, Andrea and Marissa, a brother Wesley (Susan) and other nieces, nephews and friends. A son Jeffrey, (15 years old) preceded her in death along with her parents Albert and Betty Stoltenburg. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Okauchee since 1947. She remained an active member of the Okauchee American Legion Auxiliary Unit 399, serving as Chaplain, Historian, and Sunshine Leader since 2004. During her life, she was on the homecoming court and was Prom Queen, an election poll worker for the Town of Oconomowoc for many years, a Sunday School teacher, a model for garden magazines and advertisements for Post Hole Diggers, Beer and Boats. She was Miss Wright Power Saw at a Sports Show in Milwaukee and was one of three queens for the North American Speed Skating Championship held in Oconomowoc in 1963. Shirl represented the city in the 1959 Waukesha Bicentennial Parade as one of the 12 women in bathing suits, spelling the word Oconomowoc. She modeled for the Oconomowoc Enterprise for numerous advertising jobs and also worked for the Channel 10 TV auction. Shirl also organized all class reunions from 1967-2011. She was an avid volunteer and was always there to lend a helping hand. A funeral service for Shirl will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a visitation for family and friends starting at 9:00 AM all to take place at Holy Trinity Church in Okauchee. Burial will follow at LaBelle Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for a future donation for the church in Shirley's honor. Shirl will be deeply missed by her family and everyone that knew her.
